While fat loss can be simple, it’s rarely easy

It’s hard figuring out the right pathway to take when wanting to lose weight, it’s even harder doing it when you're hungry! You try to be resilient and push through, but the food noise just gets louder and louder. So much so that your brain will convince you that the best option is to give in, have the sneaky treat, so you do. You have the thing you have been craving for days, thinking ‘oh well, I have f*cked it now anyways’ so you continue to indulge. Sound all too familiar? You’re not alone!

Fat loss isn’t complicated. You can’t deny the science (although the influencers selling you products will say otherwise). It is in fact about calories, energy balance and specificity! You see, most of you don’t gain body fat from carbs. You gain scale weight from eating a family size pizza after denying yourself carbs for weeks. Read that again, scale weight, not body fat! This is the juicy stuff! Most of you don’t know this, but carbs are stored as glycogen and for every 1g of glycogen stored, your body holds 3-4g of water! That pizza you ate could have 300g of carbs alone. You know what that means? Almost 1kg of water could be stored and that isn’t taking into account your other meals that day. But what happens is you are left with this emotional attack, about how you're a failure, you have ruined it, but have you? No you haven’t.

At the end of the day, the carbs aren’t the problem, your reaction to the carbs are! So that leads into the conversation of what actually works for fat loss. It’s not a certain food, it’s not a certain diet protocol. It’s calorie manipulation. Calorie deficits. Energy Balance. The glue that holds all of these together? Knowing, understanding a calorie deficit, what happens when they are too big and how to balance it all!
